2nd post! assalamualaikum/greetings to everyone again!
Got this information from a speech by Ustaz Lokman Bin Ibrahim, imam Al-Hafiz from Kelantan, Malaysia. He was the one who led the teraweh prayers in Darul Makmur Mosque here in Singapore in the past, but this year he led us for only 3-4 nights. Still his voice is great man! you sure will be khusyuk in your solaat with his melodious voice!
Anw back to the point. He talked about this city named Sana'a. It is a capital city in Yemen now. Back then, when the prophet Rasulullah SAW was still spreading Islam throughout the world, he sent several muslims to Sana'a to spread the word of Islam. He ordered them to build a mosque.
For general knowledge, the direction we face (qiblah) in solaat must be towards the kabbah. but back then, where was the qiblah since no compass was made yet? that was when Rasulullah SAW ordered them to face the mosque and qiblah towards the peak of the highest mountain there which is mountain DEYN.
Now, with modern technology, it is proven that the direction of the mosque is not only towards mecca, but to the CENTRE OF MECCA, which is the KABBAH.
how could Rasulullah SAW PIN POINTED the direction of qiblah from Sana'a to KABBAH with NO TECHNOLOGY? only with ALLAH's WORDS. also, Rasulullah SAW did not even step foot on Sana'a before that. and the distance from Sana'a to Mecca is 817.47km.
