Night Better Than 1000 Months

Bismi-llahi ar-ra?mani ar-ra?imi, In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. And I beg for forgiveness from Allah for whatever sin that I have done in the past and to show me the right path. Ameen.

Assalamualaikum / Greetings dear readers. Attended a religious talk ( i dunno what they call it in english but it is ceramah in malay) by Ustaz Fahrurrazy (may contain spelling error). Well he started off his speech before the friday prayers but i was late, so only got the chance to attend the 2nd part.

His topic was focussed on the last 10 nights of Ramadhan. first 10 days of ramadhan is when Allah SWT gives mercy to His slaves, next 10 days is when He forgives us, last 10 days is when He takes us away from Hellfires. I will like to share what i've learnt and what i can remember from a very fruitful speech from him insyaAllah.

LAILATUL QADR, the night of power. it was during this night that the Quran was brought down to Rasulullah SAW. In Ramadhan, it is one of the odd nights, meaning from maghrib, 21 / 23 / 25 / 27 / 29. No one knows when except Allah SWT. let's not allow the chance to slip by and let us not miss these nights for we may hit that night. the night which is equivalent to 1000 months. 1000 months = around 83 years = an age some humans live to. In the past, there were those gigantic human forms, and can sustain even to 600 years old masyaAllah. so Allah has made it fair to us, by offering this night to us.

In sentence no 4, Angels and Spirit descend with permission from Allah. When Allah SWT allows them to descend, they will descend to us, especially the ones stronger in faith. Why? Because Allah SWT has said that he likes OUR DUA'A and prayers more than that of the angels. This is one of the significance of Rasulullah SAW 's ummah. For general info, angels may be very big or small. The ones who carry the throne of Allah has a distance between his ear lobes and shoudlers, as good as a 700 YEAR journey. And have many wings, each that can open up and cover the entire earth. We have been granted very important significance, let us not put it aside.

The angels will come down and completely cover the Earth like a swarm of bees.

There are some signs that can be felt on that night. Many leaders said that the night will not be too cold or too hot. And the sun will rise in the next day, but it will not be too hot. However, not all of us can feel it.

Another sign is, when we are praying Taraweeh that night, we can feel our skin hair rising. (fasting without taraweeh is like having something missing, like a machine without proper lubricant) This feeling is because the angels are very close to us. So close that it breaks abit of the barrier between this world and theirs. But only that tingling feeling, nothing else. BUT again, not all of us will feel it.

The reason is, we have to be sincere in our prayers and other acts of worship. Especially in that night of power.

If we do something good that night, its as if we are doing good for 1000 mths. if we do bad deeds, we're doing it for 1000 months.

On the odd nights, try not to sleep. Not waking up to play games, but to worship Allah SWT. Rasulullah SAW did not leave the mosque on the last 10 days of Ramadhan except to do the more necessary things. He only left on the morning of 1st Syawal.

If Rasulullah SAW had done that, it is an example to us. No example better than him. The ustaz explained some acts of worship that could be done that night in the mosque:

1) Ablution / Wudhu. After wudhu, proceed in the prayer hall for sunnat prayers FOR WUDHU. Rasulullah SAW saw BILAL entering Heaven before him. Because everytime he loses his wudhu due to hadas (small / big), he will take wudhu and carry out sunnat prayers on WUDHU. EVERYTIME.
2) Sit and niat i'tikhaf
3) Dua'a and zikir for repentence and forgiveness. There's one, which surpasses all. This is like the "master" of dua'a for repentance:

O Allah! You are my Lord! None has the right to be worshipped but You. You created me and I am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to You all my sins. So I entreat You to forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You

4) Pray with hajat (wishing for something). if we happen to pray on that night of power, it will most probably be granted, for there are many angels around us saying Ameen to whatever we say. And they pray non-stop for our sins to be forgiven until the sun rises.

however, it is wise / necessary to take a break after a while before continuing again. We can do this to our own affordability. InsyaAllah, we may be able to fill this night with full of worship and no bad deeds. May Allah bless us all, Ameen.
