Drinking Water

Bismi-llahi ar-ra?mani ar-ra?imi, In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. And I beg for forgiveness from Allah for whatever sin that I have done in the past and to show me the right path. Ameen.

Assalamualaikum / Greetings dear readers.

This post is about drinking water, and its manners.

I have used up resources from some websites (http://sunnah24.blogspot.com/2008/04/manner-of-drinking.html and http://madani.16.forumer.com/a/sunnah-of-drinking-water_post955.html) for this entry.

1. Amr ibn Shu’aib radiyallahu anhu relates from his father, and he from his (Amr’s) grandfather, that he said, I had seen Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam drinking water whilst standing and also whilst sitting.

Commentary
There are many narrations mentioned wherein Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam prohibited the drinking of water whilst standing. A narration of Sayyidina Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu is mentioned in Sahih Muslim that Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam said, No person should stand and drink water, and if one forgetfully stood and drank it, it should be vomited out. Some ulama have summed both the deed and the prohibition in a few ways. Some ulama are of the opinion that the prohibition came later and repeals the previous law. Some ulama hold the opposite view that the narrations where he stood and drank water repeals the one that prohibits it. According to a well-known saying, the prohibition is not that of a Shar’ee or unlawful nature, but as an etiquette. It is also a blessing and kindness. Ibn Qayyim and others have mentioned the harm that standing and drinking causes. In short, Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam standing and drinking shows it being permissible to do so, and that it is not haraam to stand and drink water. It is best not do so, as this is against the recommended practice and one will be committing a makrooh act by doing so.

2. Ibn Abbas radiyallahu anhu says, Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam drank Zam-zam water while he was standing.

Commentary
Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam has prohibited the drinking of water whilst standing. For this reason some ulama have prohibited the drinking of Zam-zam also whilst standing. They say that he drank it whilst standing because of the huge crowds and the rush, or as a concession. The well-known view of the ulama is that Zam-zam is not included in this prohibition. It is better to stand and drink it.

3. Sayyidina Anas ibn Malik radiyallahu anhu relates that Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam drank water in three breaths (i.e. in three gulps/sips) and used to say, It is more pleasing and satisfying in this manner.

Commentary
It has been prohibited to drink water in one gulp. The Ulama have written many harmful effects in drinking water in one breath. It especially weakens the muscles and nerves. It is also detrimental for the liver and stomach.

4. Sayyidina Ibn Abbas radiyallahu anhu says, Whenever Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam drank water, he drank it in two breaths.

Commentary
In this hadith drinking water in two breaths is intended which apparently seems correct. Sayyidina Ibn Abbas radiyallahu anhu has stated in a hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam, Do not drink water only in one breath, but drink it in two or three breaths. The minimum number of sips one can take is mentioned in this hadith. Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam at times drank water in two sips to show that this was the minimum amount of gulps one could take. Another explanation may be this that in the hadith it meant that two breaths should be taken whilst drinking water. If two breaths are taken whilst drinking water, then all the water will naturally be drunk in three gulps. By this explanation there remains no contradiction between this and the last hadith.

The manners of drinking water :
•Pray “Bismillah” and drink with your right hand as the devil drinks and eats with the left hand.
•To sit down and drink.
•Drink by taking three separate sips not all at once.
•Whilst drinking, suck the drink and do not make a noise.
•Do not blow into any drink for cooling.
•Say “Alhamdulilah” after drinking.
•It is not permissible to throw away any left over drink. Always cover the water that is left in a glass, jug or pot

From this, we can learn that even drinking water has its own way. Our prophet Rasulullah SAW has taught us the correct way of drinking water and SubhanAllah, what great effects it have on our body. Only to be discovered by scientists, 1400 years later.

However, a brother of mine told me once before that it was sunnah to drink the zam zam water whilst standing, with the reason of feeling very thankful for the magic water (which has not changed in pH level since more than 1000 years ago). However, as explained by the websites, it maybe because of the crowd that makes us not able to sit down and drink. But other websites did quote that it is sunnah to drink zam zam water whilst standing. Allah knows best.

Eidulfitri

Bismi-llahi ar-ra?mani ar-ra?imi, In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. And I beg for forgiveness from Allah for whatever sin that I have done in the past and to show me the right path. Ameen.

Assalamualaikum / Greetings dear readers.

Today the focus is on Eidulfitri and visits to the graveyard on the morning of Eidulfitri.

Firstly the correct way of pronounciation is Eid-ul-Fitri, not AildilFitri. Eid (like the arabic letter "ain") means festivity whereas Aid(il) serves no meaning. Fitr comes from the word Fitrah, which means nature. By fasting for 30 days and arriving on Eidulfitri, our body is clean and our sins are washed away. This is what it means by fitr, which is the PURE STATE of our souls like when we were first born.

On morning of Eidulfitri, most muslim males go to the mosque to carry out a SUNNAH prayer. After which they start to disperse around to their family's houses, mainly the grandmom/dad father/mother 's house. However, there are some ppl who go around to houses other than the closest family members or relatives. It is not wrong, just that sometimes we may disturb the togetherness of a family. Maybe they did not have much time before this to gather around and have such a joyous family occassion, so maybe we may be disturbing them.

However, the most important issue is about visiting the graveyards in the morning. Maybe our parents/grandparents had passes away and since it's the end of Ramadhan, we may want to pay them a visit as a form of rememberance and respect. This is good actually, but however, the situation in Singapore is quite bad. The families come in buses or lorries, bringing in everyone. Some dressed decently, while others dress in an acceptable manner. However there are some who dresses up in new clothes that expose their adornments (aurat). To add to that, the mood that they present at the graveyard is changed to joyous and festive mood. Making a lot of noise, turning up the volumes of speakers maybe.

Bear in mind that the graveyard is a place where the deceased are seated in. It is a place to be sad. We should wear all white or black, not too colourful, as a sign of showing decency and respect. The deceased can hear us from inside their graves but we can't. They await our dua'as, especially when we visit them. But all respect and human behaviour is lost if we treat the visit to the grave as a festive and joyous occassion. Imagine how our grandmothers/fathers mother/father reacts when they hear us talking loudly and knowing the type of behaviour we potray when visiting them.

From a talk i heard from an ustaz, he mentioned that whoever dares createn immoralities / sins on the morning of Eidulfitr, he/she will do the same thing on the Day of Judgement at Mahsyar where everyone is standing in front of Allah and when everyone is panicking and chaotic, thinking about their fate i.e. Heaven or Hell.

So here, i would like to ask for forgiveness from you ladies and gentlemen if i had said anything wrong or hurt anyone in any ways. May Allah forgive me and my sins, and everyone else's too. AMIN.

If there's any error, I'm open for rectification. None is perfect as perfection only belongs to Allah (God Almighty). All good things come from Allah and all the bad things are from my side and the side of Shaiytan the accursed.

P.S. For muslim readers, i would like a request for you to recite Surah Al-Fatehah and niat towards Allahyarhamha Hajjah Ashia binte Allapitchay, 77, who had returned to Rahmatullah on 28 Ramadhan 1429 (28 September 2008), at 4.15pm. May Allah bless her soul, Amin. Thank you.

Findings

Bismi-llahi ar-ra?mani ar-ra?imi, In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. And I beg for forgiveness from Allah for whatever sin that I have done in the past and to show me the right path. Ameen.

Assalamualaikum / Greetings dear readers.

From a research, found out something(s) interesting.

From Surah Al-Hasyr:

21. If We had caused this Qur’an to descend upon a mountain, thou (O Muhammad) verily hadst seen it humbled, rent
asunder by the fear of Allah. Such similitudes coin We for mankind that haply they may reflect.
22. He is Allah, than whom there is no other God, the Knower of the invisible and the visible. He is the Beneficent,
the Merciful.
23. He is Allah, than whom there is no other God, the Sovereign Lord the Holy One, Peace, the Keeper of Faith, the
Guardian, the Majestic, the Compeller, the Superb. Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him).

24. He is Allah, the Creator, the Shaper out of naught, the Fashioner. His are the most beautiful names. All that is in
the heavens and the earth glorifieth Him, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

Imagine a mountain that big, if received the Qur'an, it will be SPLIT INTO HALF by fear of Allah. What fear do we have in Him?

From Surah Al-Hadid (Iron):

25. We verily sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and revealed with them the Scripture and the Balance, that
mankind may observe right measure; and He revealed (sent down) iron, wherein is mighty power and (many) uses for mankind, and
that Allah may know him who helpeth Him and His messengers, though unseen. Lo! Allah is Strong, Almighty.

Look at this :

…And We sent down iron in which there lies great force and which has many uses for mankind.... (Quran - Surat al-Hadid : 25)

The word “sent down” particularly used for iron in the verse, could be thought of having a metaphorical meaning to explain that iron is given to the service of people. But when we take into consideration the literal meaning of the word, which is, “being physically sent down from the sky”, we realize that this verse implies a very significant scientific miracle.

This is because modern astronomical findings have disclosed that the metal of iron found in our world has come down from the giant stars in outer space.

The heavy metals in the universe are produced in the nucleus of big stars. Our solar system, however, does not have a suitable structure to produce iron on its own. Iron can only be produced in much bigger stars than the sun, where the temperature reaches a few hundred million degrees. When the amount of iron exceeds a certain level in a star, the star can no longer bear it and eventually it explodes in what is called a “nova” or a “supernova”. As a result of this explosion, meteors containing iron are scattered around the universe and they move through the void until attracted by the gravitational force of a celestial body.

Just sharing what i researched on. Hope it is useful insyaAllah.

The Study of Hadith: Part II

_____________________________________________________________________________________

I begin by praising Allah and ask for His forgiveness and I take refuge with Allah from the evil of ourselves and the accursed Satan. Whom so ever Allah guides, there is none to misguide and who so ever Allah leaves to go astray, there is none to guide.

As promised, this is the 2nd part of the post concerning the classifications of hadith as requested by sister hlimh from the tagboard. Thanks for the request :D I'll try to make it short yet easy as possible to understand. May this post be a useful and hopefully it answers your request insyaAllah.

MUASTALAH AL-HADITH
(Classification of Hadith)

From the previous post (see part 1), we've discussed the components of hadith which is composed of 3 parts. The authenticity of the hadith depends on the reliability of its reporters, and the linkage among them.

A number of classifications of hadith have been made. Five of these classifications are shown in the figure (below), and are briefly described subsequently.

(click on the picture to have a larger view)

PLS REFER TO THE ABOVE TABLE AS YOU READ THE BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS BELOW!

[1] According to : The Reference to a particular Authority

Four types of hadith can be identified from this category:

(i) QUDSI - "sacred". The sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as revealed to him by Allah. Hadith Qudsi (or Sacred Hadith) are so named because their authority (Sanad) is traced back not to the Prophet but to the Almighty. Divine; a revelation from Allah; conveyed with the words of the Prophet (pbuh).

(ii) MARFU' - "elevated". A narration from the Prophet (pbuh) e.g. a reporter (whether a Companion/Successor/other) says, "The Messenger of Allah said..."

To have a better picture, take the very 1st hadith from Sahih Bukhari as an example...

The Isnad is as follows : Al-Bukhari == Al-Humaidi 'Abdullah b. al-Zubair == Sufyan == Yahya b. Sa'id al-Ansari == Muhammad b. Ibrahim al-Taymi == 'Alqamah b. Waqqas al-Laithi, who said: I heard 'Umar b. al- Khattab saying, while on the pulpit,

"I heard Allah's Messenger (pbuh) saying: The reward of deeds depends on the intentions, and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended; so whoever emigrated for wordly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he migrated."
[Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, book 1, Hadith no.1]

(iii) MAUQUF - "stopped". A narration from a Companion only, i.e. his own statement. e.g.
"We were commanded to..."
"We were forbidden from..."
"We used to do..."
"We used to say/do... while the Messenger of Allah was amongst us."
"We did not use to mind such-and-such..."
"It used to be said..."
"It is from the Sunnah to..."

(iv) MAQTU' - "severed". A narration from a Successor.

The authenticity of each of the above three types of hadith (excluding Qudsi depends on other factors such as the reliability of its reporters, the nature of the linkage amongst them, etc.

However, the above classification is extremely useful, since through it the sayings of the Prophet (pbuh) can be distinguished at once from those of Companions or Successors; this is especially helpful in debate about matters of Fiqh.

[2] According to : The Links of Isnad - interrupted or uninterrupted

Six categories can be identified.

(i) MUSNAD - "supported". A hadith which is reported by a traditionalist, based on what he learned from his teacher at a time of life suitable for learning; similarly - in turn - for each teacher until the isnad reaches a well known companion, who in turn, reports from the Prophet (pbuh).

(ii) MUTTASIL - "continuous". A hadith with an uninterrupted link which goes back only to a Companion or Successor.

(iii) MURSAL - "hurried". If the isnad (link) between the Successor and the Prophet (pbuh) is missing, the hadith is mursal ("hurried"), e.g. when a Successor says, "The Prophet said ...".

(iv) MUNQATI' - "broken". A hadith whose isnad (link) anywhere before the Successor (i.e., closer to the traditionalist recording the hadith) is missing. Some scholars applied the term munqati' to a narration such as where a reporter says, "a man narrated to me..."

(v) MU'DAL - "perplexing". If the number of consecutive missing reporters in the isnad exceeds one, the isnad is mu'dal ("perplexing").

(vi) MU'ALLAQ - "hanging". A hadith whose reporter omits the whole isnad and quotes the Prophet (pbuh) directly (i.e., the link is missing at the beginning). e.g "It reached me that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said..."

[3] According to : The Number of Reporters involved in each stage of Isnad

Five categories of hadith can be identified.

(i) MUTAWATIR - "consecutive". A hadith which is reported by such a large number of people (in the isnad) that they cannot be expected to agree upon a lie, all of them together.

(ii) AHAD - "isolated". A hadith which is narrated by people whose number does not reach that of the mutawatir. Ahad is further classified into: Mashhur, Aziz, Gharib.

(iii) MASHHUR - "famous". A hadith reported by more than two reporters. According to some scholars, every narrative which comes to be known widely, whether or not it has an authentic origin, is called mashhur ("famous")

(iv) AZIZ - "rare". At any stage in the isnad, only 2 reporters are found to narrate the hadith.

(v) GHARIB - "strange". At some stage of the isnad, only 1 reporter is found relating to it. Most gharib ahadith are weak; Ahmad b. Hanbal said, "Do not write these gharib hadith because they are unacceptable, and most of them are weak."

[4] According to : The Nature of the Matn (text) and Isnad

(i) ZIYADATU THIQAH - "addition by a reliable reporter". If a reliable reporter is found to add something which is not narrated by other authentic sources, the addition is accepted as long as it does not contradict them.

(ii) MUNKAR - "denounced". In contrast to ziyadatu thiqah, munkar hadith is reported by a weak narrator, and whose narration goes against another authentic hadith.

(iii) MUDRAJ - "interpolated". An addition by a reporter to the text (matn) of the hadith being narrated. Such an addition may be found in the beginning/middle/end, often in explanation of a term used. A reporter found to be in the habit of intentional interpolation is generally unacceptable and considered a liar. However, the traditionists are more lenient towards those reporters who may do so forgetfully or in order to explain a difficult word.

[5] According to : The Reliability and Memory of the Reporters

This provides the final verdict on a hadith. We now examine in more detail these important classes of ahadith. - four categories can be identified:

(i) SAHIH - "sound". Ibn al-Salah defines a sahih hadith precisely by saying, "A sahih hadith is the one which has a continuous isnad, made up of reporters of trustworthy memory from similar authorities, and which is found to be free from any irregularities (i.e. in the text) or defects (i.e. in the isnad)."

By the above definition, no room is left for any weak hadith, whether, for example, it is munqati', mu'dal or munkar.

(ii) HASAN - "good". Al-Khattabi (d. 388) states a very concise definition, "It is the one where its source is known and its reporters are unambiguous (i.e. recognizable)"

Al-Dhahabi, after giving the various definitions, says, "A hasan hadith is one which excels the da'if but nevertheless does not reach the standard of a sahih hadith."

(iii) DA'IF - "weak". A hadith which fails to reach the status of hasan is da'if. Usually, the weakness is one of discontinuity in the isnad, in which case the hadith could be mursal (hurried), mu'allaq (hanging), munqati' (broken) or mu'dal (perplexing) according to the precise nature of the discontinuity, or one of a reporter having a despised character, such as due to his telling lies, excessive mistakes, opposition to the narration of more reliable sources, involvement in innovation, or ambiguity surrounding his person.

The smaller the number and importance of defects, the less severe the weakness. The more the defects in number and severity, the closer the hadith will be to being maudu' (fabricated).

(iv) MAUDU' - "fabricated/forged". A hadith whose text goes against the established norms of the Prophet's sayings, or its reporters include a liar. Fabricated hadith are also recognized by external evidence related to a discrepancy found in the dates or times of a particular incident.

A number of traditionists have collected maudu' (fabricated) ahadith separately in order to distinguish them from other ahadith; among them are Ibn al-Jauzi in al-Maudu'at, al-Jauzaqani in Kitab al-Abatil, al-Suyuti in al-La'ali al- Masnu'ah fi 'l-Ahadith al-Maudu'ah, and 'Ali al- Qari in al-Maudu'at

EPILOGUE

Of all the collectors of hadith, al-Bukhari and Muslim were greatly admired because of their tireless attempts to collect sahih ahadith only. It is generally understood that the more trustworthy and of good memory the reporters, the more authentic the hadith.

Some traditionists prefer Sahih al-Bukhari to Sahih Muslim because al-Bukhari always looked for those reporters who had either accompanied or met each other, even if only once in their lifetime. On the other hand, Muslim would accept a reporter who is simply found to be contemporary to his immediate authority in reporting.

I hope this answers the request made by sister hlimh. Apologies if this post does not fulfill the request. Nevertheless, I recommend this website http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/ if you want to do a further study about the topic. Most of the borrowed materials were from that link.

A sister from the tagboard has requested for a post about the hadith. Alhamdulillah, here’s the 1st part of the post which is just the introduction to the systematic body of a hadith. Please take note that these are not my works. Most of it are the works of the respected scholars of Islam whom I borrowed their materials from. May Allah bless them all ameen.

INTRODUCTION

The Muslims agree that the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the second of the two revealed fundamental sources of Islam, after the Glorious Qur'an. The authentic Sunnah is contained within the vast body of Hadith literature.

A hadith is composed of 3 parts:

[1] Matn (text)

[2] Isnad (chain of reporters)

[3] Taraf (the part, or the beginning sentence, of the text which refers to the sayings/actions/characteristics of the Prophet)

A text (matn) may seem to be sufficient and reasonable but it also needs an authentic isnad with reliable reporters for any hadith to be acceptable.

'Abdullah b. al-Mubarak (d. 181 AH), one of the renowned teachers of Imam al-Bukhari, said, "The isnad is part of the religion: had it not been for the isnad, whoever wished to would have said whatever he liked."

The need for the verification of each isnad arose also because there was a deliberate fabrication of the hadith by various sects which appeared amongst the Muslims, in order to support their views.

As time passed, more reporters were involved in each isnad, and so the situation demanded strict discipline in the acceptance of the hadith; the rules regulating this discipline are known as Mustalah al-Hadith (the Classification of Hadith) which will be discussed in the sequel of this post insyaAllah.

The Critics & The Challenge

WHAT THE CRITICS SAY ABOUT THE GLORIOUS QUR’AN

I came across an intresting article on what the critic has to say about our Holy Scripture - Qu'ran. I'm just gonna share with you the testimonies of these reviewers taken from non-Muslim sources.

Let's sit back and see how divine the Qur'an is to them. Masya Allah.

"That the best of Arab witnesses have never succeeded in producing anything equal to the merits in the Qur'an... to compose such revelations at will, was beyond the power of the most expert literary artist.”

(Encyclopedia Britannica)

"The Qur'an could not be the work of an uneducated man unless he had the help of the Almighty".

(Dr. Laura Vaglieri)

"There is probably in the world no other book which has remained twelve (now fourteen) centuries with so pure a text".

(Sir William Muir - One of the staunchest critics of Islam)

"Over the centuries, many theories have been offered as to the origin of the Qur'an... Today, no sensible man accepts any of these theories".

(New Catholic Encyclopedia)

"It is an immense merit in the Qur'an that there is no doubt as to its genuineness... that every word we can now read with full confidence that it has remained unchanged through nearly thirteen centuries".

(Lane Pool: "Selections from the Qur'an"-100 years ago)

"The text of the Qur’aan is the purest of all the works of a like antiquity".

(Wherry in "Commentary of the Qur'an", vol.1 pg.349)

We Muslims NO DOUBT believe that the Qur'an is indeed the Word of God revealed to our beloved unlettered prophet Muhammad (pbuh), which was then preserved word for word in a written form which we have today. We can verify to see for ourselves that no 2 Qur'ans contradict each other. NOWHERE! This is so because it's well preserved and that the slightest change or manipulation made, will be OBVIOUS! (Will discuss this in another post insyaAllah).

Therefore, we can also say that the Qur'an is the verbatim of Allah's kalam (Word).

With the testimonies above, now let's see what the Qur'an has got to say about itself. Wait let me rephrase that....

Let's see what the CREATOR GOD ALMIGHTY has got to say about HIS Word/Revelation - The Holy Qur'an.

A book which testifies for itself... Like a witness who's been brought to the court to testify him/her self.

Just sit back to witness the testimony that it (Qur'an) is indeed a DIVINE REVELATION...

"Say: If the whole of Mankind and Jinns were together to produce the like of this Qur’an they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support."

[Al-Qur'an 17:88]

Later the challenge was made easy in the following verse of Surah Al-Hud:

"Or they may say, "He forged it." Say, "Bring ye then ten Surahs (chapters) forged, like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsover ye can, other than Allah, if ye speak the truth!"."
[Al-Qur'an 11:13]

It was made easier in the following verse of Surah Yunus:

"Or do they say, "He forged it"? Say: "Bring then a Surah like unto it, and call (to your aid) anyone you can, besides Allah, if it be ye speak the truth!"."

[Al-Qur'an 10:38]

Finally in Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah (swt) further simplified the challenge:

"And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant, then produce a Surah (chapter) like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (if there are any) besides Allah if your (doubts) are true.

But if ye cannot – and of a surety ye cannot – then fear the Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones – which is prepared for those who reject faith".

[Al-Qur'an 2:23-24]

After reading the above verses with much attention, any person with a sensible mind will instantaneously realise that these verses quoted above are in the form of a challenge. A challenge for the skeptics who have a big time doubting/rejecting the Qur'an's Divine content.

So yea here you go:
Have any doubts??
Or think that this Revelation is a fraud??
A plagiarized material??...

....sure, then by all means go produce something like it!!

DO YOU SEE THE LOGIC??
!!

If you claim that this book (Qur'an) is copied/forged/plagiarized or simply MAN-MADE and is not DIVINE, (and if all of these are true) then it simply means that any other MAN can do it! Any other MAN can produce better than it or something like it or at least similar to it.

If someone can come up with COKE, then someone else can come up with PESPSI.
Someone came up with 7-UP? Don't worry, someone else came up with SPRITE.

WINDOWS?? Well we have our very own LINUX!!!

MAKE SENSE?? SURE IT DID!!

Furthermore, God Almighty is so generous that He doesn't restrict this "create-a-qur'an-project" to just a MAN. He mentioned MANKIND!!! (17:88) Wow that's all of us!

Allah has challenged those in doubt to just produce a Surah (2:23) - The shortest Surah (chapter) in the Qur'an is ONLY 3 VERSES!!! (chapter 108)

WALLAH! until today, NO MAN or even the whole of MANKIND have ever produce something like the Qur'an or at least like Surah Al-Kauthar!!!- chapter 108. Well, there were many attempts... but unfortunately not even far from close.

Alhamdulillah, the Qur'an is the ONLY religious scripture in the world which have such a test/challenge for the critics. We call it the FALSIFICATION TEST. So if you still have any doubts, please by all means take up this 1400 years old (and still counting) challenge.

Many people have wasted their lifetime to just come up with a chapter like the Qur'an but to no avail.

With this, i will like to end the post with a verse from the Qur'an where God Almighty says :

"This Qur'an is not such as can be produced by other than God...."

(Surah Yunus 10:37)

As-Solaat (Prayers)

Bismi-llahi ar-ra?mani ar-ra?imi, In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. And I beg for forgiveness from Allah for whatever sin that I have done in the past and to show me the right path. Ameen.

Assalamualaikum / Greetings dear readers. This post is about prayers in Islam.

We received our orders to pray to Allah SWT on the night of Israa' Mi'raaj, when Rasulullah SAW penetrated through the seven heavens and Sidratul Muntahaa to receive those orders. Doesn't this makes us reflect on how much Rasulullah SAW did for us to get the orders? And the amount of rakaats for each prayer was originally X 10. So if we miss out on prayers, we can actually feel that huge burden to repay the prayers as we are actually paying back X 10 of what we are supposed to do.

Praying 5 times a day is obligatory. It makes up one of the 5 pillars of Islam.

We are very lucky to be given the opportunity to pray. If we were to ask the trees and other living creatures around us, they are very AFRAID to do prayers. Not because they disobey Allah SWT, but they don't dare to FACE ALLAH SWT in the prayers. Such amount of fear they have in Allah SWT. But what about us human beings who are much smaller than the mountains and trees? We dare to move around, scratch our body or be not in the cleanest of clothes when we are actually standing in front of Allah SWT who is the Al-Mighty. We must make an effort to increase our concentration and khusoo' to Allah SWT when praying insyaAllah we will.

Rasulullah SAW used to mention to us NEVER MISS PRAYERS. Gathering the benefits that I have read up so far, it is really our loss if we miss our prayers. Also it goes to show that Islam is really the true way of life.

When we take ablution (wudhu), we empty our hearts and concentrate on the prayers that we will be carrying out soon. 5 times a day everyday, Allah SWT reminds us that we MUST remember him. Maybe what we have done brings us away from Allah SWT, so the 5 prayers are like sticky notes saying "Hey brother/sister, are you forgetting who you come from?"

we refresh ourselves from fatigue. And we clean ourselves. If we do ablution properly, all our sins have already been forgiven. Really that simple.

When we pray, we are proving that Islam is the way for uniting everyone. Because everyone in Islam must do it and there's a sense of unity and bonding. Eg, during exams we study at home. When we feel like giving up, we know there are friends of us who carry on and it gives us inspiration to carry on as well. Same concept.

When we sujud, all our organs will return to its original position. Also, shaiytan will hate us. Because that was the reason why they were thrown out of Heaven and cursed as they disagreed to sujud (prostrate) to Prophet Adam AS. They will cry and run away from us when we SUJUD to Allah SWT.

When we say the Shahadah after sujud (ašhadu 'al-lā ilāha illā-llāhu wa 'ašhadu 'anna muħammadan rasūlu-llāh), we "renew" our contract in Islam. When our index finger points up straight, the shaiytan will feel as if they were being shot by an arrow.

Lastly, we give salaam to our two angels who are always by our sides, Kiraman Katibin. This is a symbol of respect to them.

Don't rush off after prayers for there is more to it. Immediately after prayers, recite Ayatul Kursi. The signifance is great, that is Allah promises us that nothing will stand between us and Heaven except Death. That's some of the powerful advantages of Ayatul Kursi.

If we are really khusoo in Solaat, we will find that we have left ourseleves from the world and into intense worshipping to Allah. This will clear our mind and ease our soul really. We will become refrehsed after solaat. It gives us the perfect exercise if we carry out slowly (our bones flexes). AND, if done at our very best, all our sins are washed away. Seriously, isn't Islam the greatest gift of all?

On the parts i mentioned that our sins are washed away totally, it seems to be too good and easy to be true right? Indeed it is true. If someone promises you something, wouldn't you trust him/her? What if that someone is now Allah SWT who doesn't back up on His words? He is the One who blows in a soul and flesh into an egg and sperm. Which of His orders will we dare deny then?

Here i end my sharing session, insyaAllah i will share more information after research and findings. May Allah SWT bless us all, Ameen.

If there's any error, I'm open for rectification. None is perfect as perfection only belongs to Allah (God Almighty). All good things come from Allah and all the bad things are from my side and the side of Shaiytan the accursed.
